Exit Strategy
28A - Exit Strategy
In five years I will be ready to
sell off my business idea. I hope that in five years my business has obtained steady
growth, making it an appealing investment. Owning a company comes with many
responsibilities and a lot of hard work. I think that the experience of being a
business owner will give me skills that I could take into the workforce. I
choose this exit strategy because I know where my passions lie, and unfortunately
it is not with this company. I enjoy working in large teams of people and
having the opportunity to travel to different parts of the world. My business
model would not allow me to achieve this, thus I must move on and start a new
endeavor.
I think having this exit strategy in
mind made me think of my product in the short term, rather than thinking about
what innovations I could ad in the long term. In my assignment that described my
next steps and new markets, I had a hard time identifying these things because I
never really wanted to take my business that far. While I have enjoyed developing
my business model, I am not passionate about being a business owner.
I think you will be making the right decision of selling off your business if you think you work better/enjoy in large teams. If you think it is right for you then go for it! I know owning a business has a lot of responsibilities (I grew up with a father that owns his own business and I see all the hard work and time that goes into it), so I totally understand why you want to make the decision of selling it off. Making yourself happy and doing the things you want to do are very important and I think you will be much better off moving onto a new endeavor!
ReplyDeleteRebecca,
ReplyDeleteYour exit strategy is smart because it seems as if there are other paths in life you would like to pursue; therefore, planning to sell your business in five years makes sense. I agree that becoming a business owner will help you develop skills that you could apply to other jobs. However, next time, I would try to format the assignment with three separate paragraphs to address the three different topics in the directions.
