What’s Your Secret Sauce?
16A – What’s Your
Secret Sauce?
Five ways in which I am
human capital:
1.
Perspective – in my years of schooling and my
experience at work I have learned one of the most important things to have when
solving a problem or dealing with others is perspective. Perspective has
allowed me to solve problems by thinking about everyone who is being affected.
Having perspective goes hand-in-hand with being open minded. In a world with so
much diversity it is important to have an open-mind and perspective.
2.
Optimism – Optimism allows me to see the bright
side of things. Being optimistic allows me to create good moral in teams of
people. I think in the work of work many people adopt pessimistic attitudes,
these attitudes give them no drive to want to accomplish great things in their
work. My optimism has made me want to succeed.
3.
Mindset – this also goes along with perspective and
optimism. I have created a mindset that has allowed me to look a failure as a way
of learning instead of something discouraging. I strive to be positive and to
influence others around me to be the best that they can be.
4.
Hard working – since I was 14 years old I’ve
always had a job. My parents instilled in me the value of hard work. Hard work
is something that in necessary to be successful. Learning that hard work pays
off has made me put 110% effort in everything I do.
5.
Leadership – I love bringing people together and
leading them to solve problems. I think that the other four qualities come together
and make me a leader.
Interviews
#1 – my mom
My mom gave me some interesting insight on who I am. As for
my knowledge she thinks that I am very intelligent and can see that I’m
passionate about my education. One skill that she pointed out that I have was
my navigation skills. I laughed when she mentioned it but then I realized I am
very directionally inclined.
#2 – lifelong best friend
My best friend of 19 years knows me better than I know myself.
She said that I am very wise and that I am very mature. She said that I have
great emotional intelligence and that have the ability to talk to almost
anyone.
#3 – roommate
My roommate knows me in a way many people don’t, living with
someone shows you every side of that person. She said that I have a peace-keeping
ability. She said whenever she runs into issues she feels that my
level-headedness helps her solve her problems. She also said I am a great
negotiator.
#4 – friend from high school
This friend is someone whom I do a lot of studying with, we
both are in the same major. She said that I ‘help keep her sane.’ She said this
is because I am able to use my words to calm her down and that I am good at
looking at the bright side of things. She also said she admires my math skills.
I didn’t realize math was something I am skillful at until she had mentioned
it.
#5 – college friend
This friend was my first friend in college, we met at
preview. She said from the first time she met me she felt very comfortable
around me and she thought I was very approachable. She said that even though we’ve
only known each other for a year she feels like she’s known me for a lifetime,
this is because I have always made her feel comfortable. She said in times of
need she can always rely on me for words of wisdom.
Reflection
I think that there are a lot of similarities in the way I see
myself and the way that others see me. My list of people gave me a more
specific list of things, whereas my list is broader. I think that it is easier
for people to define what your strengths are than it is for yourself to define
them. I believe that the interviews are pretty accurate, my friends were able
to point things out to me that I didn’t even notice about myself. Almost all the
qualities that they pointed out were related to something that was already on
my list. I think my list gives a pretty good representation of who I am.
Hey Rebecca, you seem to have a lot of strengths that can be put to good use. I believe you will be successful considering the feedback you got from your close friends and family. Also I believe the messages had to be recorded with voice for next time hopefully it doesn't affect the credit you get.
ReplyDeleteRebecca,
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job asking the interviewees various questions that gauge many different topics, but my favorite part about the post is the summaries of the interviews. These summaries reminded me of what was talked about in each of the interviews. The strategic spacing in your post makes it very easy to follow along while referring back and forth from your interview links. The one thing I would recommend is that you stay consistent in you post with capitalizing. For example, half the sentences in the human capital portion of your assignment begin with capitalized words, but the other half don't.
